About Esquina
Fitness & wellness isn’t just a physical journey. It’s tied to how you feel, how you think, and the load of all the stressors you’re carrying. We see the whole person in front of us — not a body to optimize. Bring all of it through the door!
Our Values
-
Whole Self
Most of our community is stretched in every direction — careers, little kids, aging parents — and told to just handle it. We don't buy that. Wellness isn't a single workout or one strength class. It's feeling good in your body, your mind, and when engaging with your people, wherever you happen to be in life right now.
-
Behavioral Change & Autonomy
A great gym trains people to become autonomous and self directed in their fitness practice. Our job is to make ourselves unnecessary even if desired. We want you confident in the gym, on the road, on your own — not tethered to us. That means progressions and regressions are built around what your body can do today, and instruction that's actually clear. We believe in zero shame for what you can't do or can't do yet.
-
Expansive Expertise
Our trainers come out of track and field, acrobatics, ballet, capoeira, circus — some of the best in the industry, and still students themselves. Every one of us keeps a parallel practice going, something we're actively training in, and that's exactly what shapes how we teach. We build programming off current research, not tradition for tradition's sake. Next month, you'll wish you'd started today.
-
Play
We're allergic to optimization culture — the abs-in-15-minutes, hack-your-workout noise that's everywhere. What you pay attention to grows: curiosity leads somewhere, questions lead to adaptation, and play is the actual engine of change, not a break from the "real work." The strength, mobility, body composition, whatever shift you're chasing — it shows up here too. It just arrives as a byproduct of practice built on hard work & play, not suffering.
-
It Takes a Village
Athlete, parent, or just finding your way back to movement — aches, injuries, and old stories your body's holding onto come with the territory of being in one. We help you build the self-care skills to handle the everyday stuff. And when something's bigger than that, we hand you off to people we trust.
-
Wellness is Political
Bodily autonomy and safety are political — more so now than ever. Our bodies carry what's happening around us, and they respond however they respond: on edge, shut down, resilient, all of it. Every version is human, and every version deserves care, not judgment. Come as you are. We mean that literally.
-
How We Talk About Bodies
Bodies have been judged and policed enough outside these walls. In here, we don't comment on anyone else's — not as a critique, not even as a compliment. It's a small rule that does a lot of work keeping Esquina safe for everyone in it.
-
Scholarships
Movement shouldn't be gated by income. We offer a reduced-rate pack — 5 classes for $125 ($25/class instead of $35) — plus scholarships for Youth Classes. Reach out to learn more. (Doesn't cover personal or small group training.) Want to help keep Esquina open to everyone? Donate to our scholarship program.
Our Space
We built Esquina around one idea: the room you're in changes what happens in your head. Light-filled group spaces, equipment that actually works — every detail here is doing something for you, even the ones you don't notice. Come feel the difference good design makes in how you train.
